However, things changed when the factory was illegally taken over by the Ventriglias. After this illegal takeover, Dr. Mahtani approached the Lusaka High Court and made an appeal. The Ventriglias, on the other hand, defended themselves by saying that Dr. Mahtani did not pay for the shares he owns at the factory. Thus started one of the longest running corporate cases in Zambian history. The case has been running for over 10 years without any concrete direction. While Dr. Mahtani has shared numerous strong evidences such as signed shareholder’s agreement, independent auditor’s report, financial exhibits and many more, the court has not been able to provide quick judgment.
Finally, the judge currently handling the case has announced that the case hearing is closed. Both sides will be submitting their evidences in oral and written format after evaluation of which, final judgment will be announced.
